New CAPSYS CAPTURE Installation

Before Installation

Prerequisites

GENERAL

Verify minimum system requirements are met as discussed in the System Requirements topic.
Verify necessary file and directory permissions/credentials on the target installation computer.
Obtain a new CAPSYS CAPTURE License File from CAPSYS or your authorized CAPSYS CAPTURE Business Partner.

SQL DATABASE

Verify installation, access and login credentials for your Database Server.
Create an empty database on your SQL Database Server for CAPSYS CAPTURE. During the installation process you will be prompted to select an existing database that the Installer will prepare for use by CAPSYS CAPTURE.
Create appropriate ODBC data sources for CAPSYS CAPTURE to use to connect to your Database Server. Note, the Process Manager and 32-bit CAPSYS CAPTURE Server require 32-bit ODBC data sources, while the 64-bit CAPSYS CAPTURE Server requires a 64-bit data source. 32-bit and 64-bit data sources must be created with the same names.

Note: Version 2019 - 2020 are the only supported versions of MySQL.

WEB SERVER/IIS

Verify installation, access and login credentials for your Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) instance.
Enable .NET 4/4.5.
Enable IIS 6 Management.
Enable HTTP Activation.

Installing CAPSYS CAPTURE

If the above prerequisites have been met, obtain the appropriate 32-bit or 64-bit Installer from CAPSYS or your Authorized CAPSYS CAPTURE Vendor and run on the target computer. The CAPSYS CAPTURE Installer will give you the option of installing the following components associated with CAPSYS CAPTURE:

CAPSYS CAPTURE Server (Service)
CAPSYS CAPTURE Process Manager
CAPSYS CAPTURE Web Application
CAPSYS CAPTURE Queue Monitor

Select the components that are appropriate for your particular installation and proceed.

If you are installing CAPSYS CAPTURE Web, you will be prompted for the location in which to copy the CAPSYS CAPTURE Web Site files. This is considered the Web Storage Directory. The default directory is \Inetpub\CAPSYS CAPTURE, where \Inetpub is the default folder created by Microsoft IIS. This folder can be any folder that the Web Server has the ability to access.

The CAPSYS CAPTURE Installer will launch separate database and web configuration utilities while running. The database configuration utility uses the built-in Windows Universal Data Link (UDL) dialog to prompt for information used to create a connection to the database. When entering information into the UDL dialog, always choose the option “remember password”.

CAPSYS CAPTURE only uses the information in the UDL to capture the initial connection information. Even though "remember password" is checked, CAPSYS CAPTURE does not save the UDL to disk nor store any passwords in clear text anywhere on the system.

It is possible to use Windows Authentication for this connection, but the CAPSYS CAPTURE Server Service and IIS user account require an account that is authorized to access the SQL Database Server.

Important! During the installation you will be prompted for a Login and Password for the Administrative User. Make sure you make a note of these, as you will not be able to login to the CAPSYS CAPTURE Process Manager without them.

Once the Installer has completed installation on the target computer, you can login to the CAPSYS CAPTURE Process Manager as the Administrative User to begin configuring your CAPSYS CAPTURE System:
