Configuring CAPSYS CAPTURE Fax for FAXCOM
Once you add the CAPSYS CAPTURE Fax for FAXCOM input source to a server group, you must configure:
- The General Info tab, which allows you to connect to a FAXCOM Server.
- The Users tab, which allows you to select which of the FAXCOM users CAPSYS CAPTURE Fax will monitor for in-bound faxes. Users are defined in FAXCOM according to FAXCOM Queues.
The CAPSYS CAPTURE Fax for FAXCOM configuration procedure below begins with configuring settings on the General Info tab.
- In CAPSYS CAPTURE Process Manager, expand the Server Groups container item in the console tree, if it is not already open.
- Click on the name of the server group that contains the CAPSYS CAPTURE Fax for FAXCOM input source you want to configure.
- Under Input Sources, click on the name of the CAPSYS CAPTURE Fax for FAXCOM input source.
- Under Input Source Tasks, click Configure This Input Source to open the CAPSYS CAPTURE Fax for FAXCOM configuration dialog box.
- On the General Info tab, under FAXCOM Connection Information, enter the full Universal Naming Convention (UNC) path to the FAXCOM Queue shared folder that want this input source to monitor for in-bound faxes.
- At run-time, the CAPSYS CAPTURE service requires a folder to act as a temporary storage location as it acquires and re-formats each fax. Create this "working" folder on a computer in your network so that all the CAPSYS CAPTURE services that
you add to the current server group will be able to access it. Make note of the name you give the folder for the step that follows next.
- Return to the General Info tab on the CAPSYS CAPTURE Fax for FAXCOM configuration dialog and enter a path to the Working Directory folder you created in the previous step. You can use a local path if you created the working folder on the CAPSYS
CAPTURE Server computer AND if there is only one CAPSYS CAPTURE service assigned to the current CAPSYS CAPTURE server group. Use a UNC path, however, if the working folder is not local to a single CAPSYS CAPTURE Server or if there is more than one
CAPSYS CAPTURE service working for the server group.
- Optionally, use the Select a profile to use for bad faxes drop-down list to select a CAPSYS CAPTURE batch profile to enable CAPSYS CAPTURE to handle faxes that enter the FAXCOM user's mailbox without the "OK" status. Otherwise,
CAPSYS CAPTURE Fax will not pick up a fax if it has any status other than "OK." The corresponding status code for "OK" is "0000" and means "All pages in the fax were successfully received." Under normal conditions
for in-bound faxes, it is unusual to receive a status different than "OK."
- Optionally, select whether or not to Convert Resolution of each image. This setting gives you to ability to control the resolution of the fax image as it enters the CAPSYS CAPTURE workflow. Mark this check box and select a resolution setting.
The resolution is measured in dots per inch (dpi).
- Optionally, select whether or not to Return Only Numeric data for Caller ID Value. Sometimes a Caller ID value that is captured includes non-numeric characters. Mark this check box to exclude non-numeric characters.
- Optionally, select whether or nor to Delete Faxes from Biscom FAXCOM System. Mark this check box to enable CAPSYS CAPTURE Fax to remove a fax from the FAXCOM mailbox once it is captured.
- Optionally, select whether or nor to Create Backup Copy of Fax Files. Mark this check box to create a backup copy of the original faxes CAPSYS CAPTURE Fax captures from a FAXCOM mailbox. The setting is often used with the "Delete Faxes
from Biscom FAXCOM System" option to keep the actual mailbox free of "viewed" faxes while still maintaining copies of the unmodified originals.
- Click Apply to save your configuration settings so far.
- To complete configuration, you must click on the Users tab to select one or more FAXCOM users to monitor.
Verbose Logging
Select Verbose Logging to record in the CAPSYS CAPTURE Audit Log detailed information describing this module's processing activity. Without verbose logging enabled, the CAPSYS CAPTURE Fax for FAXCOM input module only records error and failure
messages in the log. Verbose logging should be turned off during normal system operation.
Any changes you make to the input source will not take effect until all the CAPSYS CAPTURE Servers in the server group are stopped and restarted.
